Parent Migration
Parents can immigrate to Australia using a Parent Visa. There are two kinds of visas available to parents wanting to stay with a child who lives permanently in Australia: the Parent Visa and the Contributory Parent Visa. If you would like to live permanently in Australia and you are the parent of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, you may apply for a visa in either of these 2 categories.
Parent Visa
To apply for migration to Australia as a parent, you must be sponsored by your child, who must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. There are often long waiting times associated with this visa.
Contributory Parent
To apply for migration to Australia as a contributory parent, you must be sponsored by your child, who must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. As a contributory parent, you will pay a higher visa application charge and a larger Assurance of Support (AoS) bond and for a longer period of time. There are much shorter waiting times associated with this visa.
